Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
445 AM CDT Tue Oct 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Dry and below normal temperatures will ensue today, but with much
lighter 20-foot east-northeast wind speeds of less than 10 mph.
Given the dry airmass ushered in by the cold front from a few
days ago, relative humidity values will fall into the 25-35
percent range by peak heating, though recovering into the 80-90
percent range overnight. Lack of beneficial widespread rainfall
for the last several weeks will only aid in the ongoing D0-D1
drought noted across portions of the ARKLATEX, but light winds and
cool conditions will mitigate the fire weather threat. A gradual
warm up to slightly above normal will commence tomorrow, as the
cool airmass starts to retreat and southerly 20-foot winds make a
return. Warmer temperatures would usually spell drier conditions,
however southerly winds will aid in the gradual transport of low
level moisture. Thus, humidities will increase into the 30-40
percent range tomorrow afternoon. Despite the warmer temperatures,
humidities will increase a bit, and couple this with with light
20-foot wind speeds /less than 5 mph/ will result in rather low
fire weather concerns.

Looking ahead, dry and slightly above normal temperatures will
persist throughout the remainder of this week. However, chances
for widespread rainfall will increase by this weekend which will
hopefully come into fruition and aid to ease the drought.
