...Strong winds possible across portions of the North Carolina
mountains early this morning and again tonight...

.Strong northwesterly cold advection will lead to gusty winds
through about daybreak this morning. Then there will be a lull in
the winds until early this evening, when westerly winds increase
again and persist through tonight across portions of the North
Carolina mountains.

THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to
7 AM EST Thursday.

* LOCATIONS...The northern mountains of western North Carolina.

* HAZARDS...Strong wind gusts.

* TIMING...Lasting through daybreak this morning. Then winds
  increase again this evening through tonight.

* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph early
  this morning. West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
  tonight.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel may be
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
