...SPRING 2015 WAS THE HOTTEST SPRING ON RECORD FOR TALLAHASSEE...

...MAY WAS HOTTER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL FOR TALLAHASSEE...

FOR CLIMATOLOGICAL PURPOSES, SPRING IS DEFINED AS THE 3-MONTH PERIOD
OF MARCH THROUGH MAY. THE SPRING OF 2015 WAS THE HOTTEST ON RECORD
WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 72.8 DEGREES, 5.9 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. ALL 3 MONTHS EXPERIENCED ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WITH
THIS PAST APRIL BEING THE HOTTEST APRIL ON RECORD IN TALLAHASSEE. THE
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT THE TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL AIRPORT
DURING SPRING WAS 95 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED 5 TIMES IN MAY.

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE 5 HOTTEST SPRING`S ON RECORD:

4 70.5  1991
5 70.0  1967

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR MAY RECORDED AT THE AIRPORT WAS 78.3
DEGREES, 4.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS PLACES MAY 2015 AS THE 2ND HOTTEST
 MAY ON RECORD FOR TALLAHASSEE. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 48 DEGREES ON
THE 2ND. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 95 DEGREES ON THE 9TH TIED THE RECORD
HIGH FOR THAT DATE AND WAS THE FIRST OF 5 OCCURRENCES WHERE THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE TOPPED OFF AT 95 DEGREES.

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE 5 HOTTEST MAY`S ON RECORD:

RAINFALL AT THE TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL AIRPORT FOR MAY ONLY MEASURED
1.92 INCHES, OR 1.55 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THERE WERE 8 DAYS WITH
MEASURABLE RAINFALL DURING THE MONTH WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE
GREATEST AMOUNT IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD WAS 0.70 INCHES ON THE 31ST.
THERE WERE 14 DAYS WITH THUNDER AT THE AIRPORT WHICH WAS 7 ABOVE NORMAL.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCED A PEAK WIND GUST OF 60 MPH FROM THE
SOUTHWEST ON THE 19TH AT THE AIRPORT.

THE OUTLOOK FOR JUNE FROM THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER CALLS FOR AN
ENHANCED CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE
NORMAL RAINFALL. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE IS 80.2 AND
NORMAL RAINFALL IS 7.73 INCHES.
