UNSEASONABLY STRONG WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD FRONT PUSHED ACROSS
NORTH CENTRAL MONTANA AUGUST 22ND. GUSTS REACHED 74 MPH AT TWO
MEDICINE. THIS IS THEIR STRONGEST GUST OF RECORD FOR AUGUST (BEGAN
IN 1998). DEEP CREEK RAWS (RECORDS BEGAN IN 2003) GUSTED TO 68 MPH.
THIS IS A DAILY RECORD GUST, THE HIGHEST GUST FOR AUGUST IS 73 MPH
IN 2005. CUT BANK REACHED 46 MPH. THIS EXCEEDED THEIR OLD RECORD FOR
TODAY OF 43 MPH SET IN 2010.

OTHER STRONGER GUSTS IN THE AREA INCLUDED 58 MPH AT LOST LAKE (NEAR
GERALDINE), 51 MPH AT ROGERS PASS, AND 50 MPH NEAR CHESTER AND
JOPLIN.

TODAY`S AREA HIGHEST GUST OF RECORD WAS 81 MPH FROM A
THUNDERSTORM AT GREAT FALLS IN 1978.
