statement for the following rivers...


  Mississippi River affecting

  ...Quincy

  ...Hannibal

  ...Clarksville LD24


.This hydrologic statement is based on heavy rains this past week upstream
in Iowa and Illinois...

Safety message:  Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas.  The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

Forecast information for
  The Mississippi River at Canton LD20
* from late Thursday morning until Sunday morning.
* At 8PM Sunday the stage was 9.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by late Thursday
  morning and crest near 14.5 feet by Friday evening. The river will
  fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 14.0 feet... Both banks begin to overflow.  Minor damages begin.

* from late Friday morning until Saturday early afternoon.
* At 9PM Sunday the stage was 12.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by late Friday
  morning and crest near 17.1 feet by Friday early afternoon. The
  river will fall below flood stage by Saturday early afternoon.
* At 15.0 feet... Riverside campsites south of Quincy begin to flood.

* from early Friday morning until Sunday morning.
* At 9PM Sunday the stage was 12.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by early Friday
  morning and crest near 16.3 feet by Friday evening. The river will
  fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 16.0 feet... Flood Stage.  Damage begins to buildings in
  unprotected low areas.  Minor flooding begins.

* At 10PM Sunday the stage was 19.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Friday morning
  and crest near 25.8 feet by Saturday evening. The river will fall
  below flood stage by late Monday morning.
* At 25.5 feet... State Route P east of Elsberry begins flooding just
  east of the levee.
