URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MORE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW HEADED FOR THE COLORADO HIGH
COUNTRY...

.A STREAM OF MOISTURE MOVING OFF THE PACIFIC WILL REACH THE
NORTHERN COLORADO MOUNTAINS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SNOW
WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS BY THIS EVENING AND INCREASE IN
INTENSITY OVERNIGHT. IN ADDITION...STRONG WINDS WILL PRODUCE
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW OVER EXPOSED RIDGES AND
MOUNTAIN PASSES.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO
5 PM MST FRIDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW, WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM MST FRIDAY.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS LATE
  THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD AND HEAVIER THIS
  EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. SNOW WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE ON
  FRIDAY...FIRST IN THE I-70 CORRIDOR OF THE MOUNTAINS AND THEN
  SLOWLY NORTHWARD TO THE WYOMING BORDER BY LATE FRIDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 8 INCHES IN THE I-70 CORRIDOR,
  INCREASING TO 6-12 INCHES FROM ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK NORTH
  TO THE WYOMING BORDER. AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 1 FOOT WILL BE
  POSSIBLE NORTH OF RABBIT EARS PASS.

* WIND/VISIBILITY...WEST/SOUTHWEST WINDS INCREASING TO 25 TO 35
  NEAR AND ABOVE TIMBERLINE...WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH OR MORE OVER
  THE HIGH PASSES. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED TO JUST A COUPLE
  HUNDRED FEET AT TIMES OVER THE HIGHER PASSES...AND BELOW ONE
  HALF MILE AT TIMES IN LOWER ELEVATIONS.

* IMPACTS...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL PRODUCE HAZARDOUS AND SLOW
  TRAVEL CONDITIONS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS. THE WORST TRAVEL
  CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED FROM LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY
  MORNING, THEN SOME IMPROVEMENT CAN BE EXPECTED ESPECIALLY ALONG
  THE I-70 CORRIDOR BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED
ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

  ACROSS THE PLAINS OF NORTHEAST COLORADO

* IMPACTS...FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS WITH THESE
  CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND
GLOVES.
