...RED FLAG WARNING FOR MUCH OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL NORTH
DAKOTA THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THIS EVENING...

.Critical fire weather conditions are expected across much of
southwest and south central North Dakota this afternoon into
early this evening. Afternoon relative humidity values will drop
as low as 15 percent, while sustained southwesterly to westerly
winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected. Winds
will then start to turn northwest towards evening as a cold front
moves through the area. Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly
in dry fuels and become difficult to control or suppress.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 1 PM CDT /noon MDT/ this afternoon to 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/
this evening.

* WINDS...Southwesterly to westerly at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up
  to 45 mph. Winds may start to shift northwest towards evening.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.

* AFFECTED AREA...Much of southwest and south central North
  Dakota.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become
  difficult to control or suppress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
