Today:

Early this morning temperatures remained in the mid 30s to mid 40s
over the region with the warmer temperatures in southeast Iowa. Winds
are fairly light and remain from the west at 5 to 15 mph across the
region. A few clouds are drifting across the Iowa Minnesota border
early today as well.

Today will see a mix of sunshine and a few clouds from time to time.
Mild temperatures are expected with afternoon highs in the lower 60s
north to the mid 60s in the south.

Tonight and beyond:

High pressure will drift east of the region tonight as an area of
low pressure begins to approach the region from the southwest. In
southern Canada, another system is expected to drop southeast and
merge with the southern low by Thursday. Though Wednesday will
continue quiet with mild temperatures, Thursday will see some
showers in the east during the day into the evening east. Highs
Wednesday will peak in the upper 60s to lower 70s while Thursday
will be cooler with afternoon readings back in the 50s north to the
lower 60s in the south. Stronger winds are expected to develop
across Iowa later Thursday afternoon and extend into the night.
Winds may range from 30 to 40 mph at times as northwest flow and
cooler air move into the area. Sunshine will return Friday with
pleasant afternoon readings in the lower to mid 60s. A rapid warming
trend is anticipated into the weekend with highs in the 70s to lower
80s. Chances for precipitation over the weekend appear limited at
this time.
