.DISCUSSION...

A trough of low pressure moving through will shift winds to the
west today, with winds picking up into the 15 to 20 mph range
again mainly across eastern North Dakota this afternoon. The winds
will bring mixing heights into the 7000 to 9000 ft range during
the afternoon hours. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s to
low 70s will bring minimum relative humidity values down into the
35 to 45 percent range. There will be a slight chance for rain
showers north of the Highway 2 corridor this afternoon.

Winds will diminish this evening and begin to shift to the
southwest overnight. Another low pressure system moving into the
region on Saturday will bring an increased chance for showers and
thunderstorms during the afternoon, with winds shifting to the
northwest behind the system late Saturday evening. Temperatures
ahead of the low pressure system will warm into the low to mid 70s
with afternoon relative humidity readings dropping to near 30
percent in some places. The chance for showers will continue into
Sunday and Monday with a cooler trend for the rest of the holiday
weekend.
