...MARCH WAS COOLER THAN NORMAL BUT NOT RECORD BREAKING...

THE MOST NOTABLE THING ABOUT THE MARCH WEATHER AT THE JUNEAU
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS THERE WERE 12 STRAIGHT DAYS WITHOUT ANY
PRECIPITATION. THE CURRENT RECORD IS 13 STRAIGHT DAYS OF NO
PRECIPITATION WHICH WAS SET IN 1949. THE LAST DAY OF REPORTABLE RAIN OR
SNOW IN MARCH 2014 OCCURRED ON THE 19TH OF THE MONTH.

THE PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS JUST 3 TENTHS OF AN INCH DRIER THAN
NORMAL WITH A TOTAL OF 3.45 INCHES RECORDED. ONLY 6 INCHES OF SNOW FELL
IN MARCH WHICH IS BELOW THE NORMAL MONTHLY TOTAL OF 11.6 INCHES.

THE AIRPORT SAW AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 31.5 DEGREES FOR MARCH WHICH
IS JUST 2.3 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WAS 49 DEGREES
AND OCCURRED ON THE 30TH. AVERAGE HIGH FOR THE MONTH WAS 1.4 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL AT 39.6 DEGREES.

THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH HAPPENED ON THE 5TH AND WAS A CHILLY 4
DEGREES. AVERAGE LOW FOR THE MONTH WAS 24.7 DEGREES WHICH IS COLDER THAN
NORMAL BY 3.2 DEGREES. THE AIRPORT HAD A DAILY RECORD LOWEST MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE ON MARCH 28TH WITH 19 DEGREES REPORTED. THIS TIED THE RECORD
PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1967.

THE HIGHEST WIND SPEED RECORDED AT THE AIRPORT WAS 51 MPH FROM THE
SOUTHEAST. THIS HAPPENED ON MARCH 10TH. AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH
WAS 8.6 MPH WITH THE PREDOMINATE DIRECTION OF SOUTHEAST.
