.Synopsis for the southern California coast and Santa Barbara
Channel including the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary
and National Park...at 21Z...or 1 PM PST...A 1040 MB high was
centered in Idaho. A weak trough of low pressure was located along
the CA coast. Little change in this weather pattern can be expected
through Fri morning. Increasing NW flow can be expected in the outer
waters into the weekend as high pressure builds into the eastern Pac.
Gale force winds will be possible over the outer waters Sat and Sat
night. Gusty NE winds will be possible near shore from S of Ventura
to Santa Monica Sat night and Sun. Smoke from the Thomas fire may
locally reduce visibilities down to 2 NM or less across the E Santa
Barbara Channel through tonight.
