...A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CST WEDNESDAY FOR
WHITESIDE...JO DAVIESS...CARROLL...STEPHENSON AND JACKSON COUNTIES...

At 910 PM CST, emergency management officials reported flooding
across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already
fallen. Flooding due to an ice jams, snow melt, and heavy rain will
continue.  Though no additional rain is expected tonight, the
widespread areal flooding of creeks and streams, will continue
through the night.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Freeport, Sterling, Rock Falls, Maquoketa, Morrison, Galena, Mount
Carroll, Savanna, Lena, Bellevue, Prophetstown, Stockton, East
Dubuque, Erie, Lanark, Warren, Garden Plain, Milledgeville, Preston
and Fairhaven.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
