FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
523 AM EDT SUN MAY 1 2016

...PERIODS OF RAIN EXPECTED TODAY THROUGH MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
RAIN ACROSS WESTERN AND CENTRAL NEW YORK STATE EARLY THIS MORNING
WILL SPREAD FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST ACROSS OUR AREA BEGINNING
AROUND 800 AM. THE RAIN WILL BECOME A BIT MORE SCATTERED IN NATURE
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...THEN BECOME FAIRLY WIDESPREAD AGAIN
ON MONDAY AS A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES INTO THE REGION. TOTAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR TODAY THROUGH MONDAY WILL GENERALLY BE IN THE
ONE HALF TO ONE INCH RANGE. WITH PLENTY OF CLOUDS AND MOISTURE
AROUND DURING THIS PERIOD...HIGHER HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED. THIS
SHOULD HELP LIMIT ANY FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS. SOME DRYING TAKES
PLACE ON TUESDAY WITH NO PRECIPITATION EXPECTED AND AFTERNOON
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES GETTING DOWN INTO THE 30 PERCENT RANGE. THE
DRYING TREND HOWEVER WILL BE SHORT LIVED AS A TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE MOVES TOWARD THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY AND BECOMES CUTOFF
TO OUR SOUTH ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. THIS FEATURE WILL HELP TO
BRING A CHANCE OF SHOWERS TO THE AREA WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
THIS WILL HELP TO KEEP AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ABOVE ANY
CRITICAL LEVELS AND THUS FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS WILL CONTINUE TO BE
LIMITED.
