Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Washington and North Idaho
National Weather Service Spokane WA
600 AM PDT Mon May 29 2017

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather today, with
mostly dry and warm conditions. Weak disturbances rounding the
ridge will bring a very limited threat of thunderstorms around
the mountain districts this afternoon. The ridge shifts east
Tuesday, the warmest day of the week. An approaching cold front
will bring a better threat of showers and thunderstorms to the
Cascades by afternoon. The cold front passes between Tuesday night
and Wednesday, expanding the scattered showers and a chance of
thunderstorms across the region. A few of those storms could be
strong with the threat of brief heavy downpours, gusty winds,
small hail and lightning. The cold front will also come with a
general increase in winds, especially in the unsheltered areas and
Columbia Basin. Additional disturbances pass between Thursday and
Sunday, keeping the threat of showers alive, with maybe a few
thunderstorms. The best risk will be in the mountain districts.
Temperatures will become more seasonal starting Wednesday.
