FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UTAH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
346 AM MDT WED AUG 20 2014

...ELEVATED RH VALUES ALONG WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS THROUGH THURSDAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...MOIST CONDITIONS WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL PERSIST OVER THE AREA THROUGH THURSDAY. SOME DRYING WILL
SPREAD IN STARTING THURSDAY NIGHT BUT THE CHANCE OF AFTERNOON AND
EVENING THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY. COOLER THAN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURES WILL ACCOMPANY THIS UNSETTLED WEATHER REGIME THROUGH SATURDAY
AS WELL. SOME DRYING WILL TAKE PLACE SUNDAY.

.DISCUSSION...SOME OF THE MOISTURE FROM THE MONSOONAL SURGE WILL LINGER
ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AS A TROUGH DEVELOPS OVER
THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THEN SWINGS THROUGH UTAH SATURDAY. VARIOUS
DISTURBANCES WILL KICK OFF CONVECTION DAY AND NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY PRODUCING
WIDELY SCATTERED WETTING RAINS. RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL BE ELEVATED
DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS WELL. THE TROUGH DEVELOPING OVER THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST WILL INTERACT WITH THE MOISTURE THATS LINGERS OVER THE NORTHERN
HALF OF THE REGION ON SATURDAY LIKELY PRODUCING WIDESPREAD RAIN. TEMPERATURES
WILL BE COOLER DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...ESPECIALLY SATURDAY. DRYING
WILL RETURN SUNDAY INTO MONDAY BUT ANOTHER TROUGH MAY INCREASE CHANCES OF
SHOWERS TUESDAY.

***THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS***
***ALL WINDS ARE 20 FOOT...10-MINUTE AVERAGES***
