...VERY LARGE NORTH NORTHWEST SWELL AND NEAR GALE FORCE WINDS...

.A very large north-northwest swell will peak today, then slowly
subside through Friday. This swell will produce combined seas
well above the advisory threshold of 10 feet. A high to the
northwest and a trough to the west will produce strong to near
gale force north to northeast winds for most waters, and gales
for the Alenuihaha Channel.

...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST THURSDAY...
...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM HST THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Gale
Warning, which is in effect from 6 AM to 6 PM HST Thursday.

* Winds and Seas...Northeast winds 20 to 30 kt through tonight,
  then 30 to 35 kt through Thursday. Seas 8 to 12 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Small Craft Advisory means that winds speeds of 25 to 33 knots
and/or seas 10 feet or greater are expected to produce conditions
hazardous to small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially
those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these
conditions.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
