...POSSIBLE EF0 TORNADO IN VANCOUVER WA THIS AFTERNOON...

A strong thunderstorm that originated in the St. Johns area of
Portland crossed the Columbia River and moved northeast through
downtown area of Vancouver, Minnehaha area, and then the Covington
and Orchards areas of northeast Vancouver, and likely produced an
EF0 tornado in the eastern sections of Vancouver, Washington.

NWS personnel examined damage in the Orchards area of Vancouver
around NE 99th St and NE 140th Avenue, as well as near NE 105th
Avenue in the Covington area. Much of the damage consisted of
blown over fences, broken tree limbs, and displaced property. The
pattern of the damage indicated an EF0 tornado touched down in
these 2 locations around 315 pm this afternoon. However, we have
not received any visual confirmation of a funnel cloud or tornado.

The likelihood of another event like this occurring this evening
is diminishing greatly.
