OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER/BOULDER CO
654 PM MDT FRI AUG 22 2014

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS CENTERED OVER THE
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...WITH AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE OVER THE WESTERN UNITED STATES. COLORADO LIES BETWEEN THESE
TWO SYSTEMS...UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW ALOFT.
THIS MOISTURE COMBINED WITH AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL PRODUCE
NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE HIGH COUNTRY
OVERNIGHT. MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE OVER THE
WEEKEND...AS A DRIER WEST TO SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT DEVELOPS OVER
COLORADO. HOWEVER...THERE WILL STILL BE ENOUGH RESIDUAL MOISTURE
AROUND TO PRODUCE SCATTERED AFTERNOON AND EVENING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE HIGH COUNTRY THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.
WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER IS EXPECTED BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...
AS UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE RE-ESTABLISHES OVER THE WESTERN UNITED
STATES.
