AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS CENTERED OVER THE SOUTHERN
MISSISSIPPI STATES...WITH AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE OVER
THE WESTERN UNITED STATES. COLORADO LIES BETWEEN THESE TWO
SYSTEMS...UNDER A SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. THIS PATTERN WILL HELP DRAW
MONSOONAL MOISTURE INTO COLORADO OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. IN
ADDITION...AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE INTO COLORADO FROM
THE SOUTHWEST. THE COMBINATION OF INCREASED MOISTURE AND LIFT FROM
THE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL PRODUCE NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEASTERN COLORADO ON
FRIDAY. SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD PRODUCE BRIEF HEAVY RAIN. THE
UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE EAST OF COLORADO ON
SATURDAY...WITH DECREASING CHANCES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
DRIER WEATHER IS EXPECTED ON SUNDAY AS A DRIER WESTERLY FLOW ALOFT
DEVELOPS OVER COLORADO. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL
RETURN TO THE HIGH COUNTRY EARLY NEXT WEEK...AS MONSOONAL MOISTURE
STARTS TO FLOW BACK INTO THE REGION.
