....OCTOBER 2015 WARMER AND WETTER THAN AVERAGE.....

IT WAS WARM AND GENERALLY DRY FOR THE FIRST 20 DAYS OF THE MONTH HOWEVER A
WEATHER SYSTEM BROUGHT SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA ON THE 21ST
AND 22ND ALONG WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES.  FOR THE LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH
TEMPERATURES RETURNED TO MORE SEASONAL LEVELS.

OCTOBER 2015 STARTED OUT WARM AND DRY AS A LARGE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE
OF HIGH PRESSURE DOMINATED THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION. UPPER LEVEL
TROUGHINESS BROUGHT COOLER TEMPERATURES AND SOME LIGHT PRECIPITATION
TO THE AREA FROM THE 3RD THROUGH THE 6TH. A PERSISTENT UPPER RIDGE
OF HIGH PRESSURE RE-BUILT OVER THE WESTERN UNITED STATES ON THE
8TH...WHICH RESULTED IN DRY WEATHER AND ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN
DENVER FROM THE 8TH THROUGH THE 19TH. A LARGE AND MOIST UPPER LEVEL
STORM SYSTEM WHICH TRACKED FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ACROSS COLORADO
FROM THE 20TH THROUGH THE 22ND...COMBINED WITH A COLD FRONT MOVING
INTO NORTHEASTERN COLORADO. THIS SYSTEM BROUGHT COLDER TEMPERATURES
AND MUCH NEEDED PRECIPITATION TO NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEASTERN
COLORADO. DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MEASURED 1.57 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION DURING THIS THREE DAY PERIOD. FOR THE LAST WEEK OF THE
MONTH DRY WEATHER RETURNED TO THE AREA...WITH NEAR
SEASONAL TEMPERATURES.

TEMPERATURES:

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE AT DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR THE MONTH OF
OCTOBER WAS 56.5 DEGREES F WHICH WAS 5.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MAKES
OCTOBER 2015 THE 6TH WARMEST ON RECORD.  OCTOBER OF 1950 WAS THE WARMEST
ON RECORD AT 59.9 DEGREES F. THE COLDEST OCTOBER ON RECORD WAS 39.0
DEGREES F BACK IN 1969.

THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH WAS 87 DEGREES WHICH
OCCURRED ON THE 11TH WHICH SET A NEW RECORD FOR THE DATE...THE COLDEST
TEMPERATURE OF 28 DEGREES OCCURRED ON THE MORNING OF THE 28TH.
