.....MARCH 2015 DRIER AND MUCH WARMER.....

MARCH 2015 WAS UNEVENTFUL WITH DRY WEATHER AND WARM TEMPERATURES
MUCH OF THE MONTH. AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED COLD
FRONT BROUGHT COLD WEATHER TO NORTHEASTERN COLORADO THE FIRST FIVE
DAYS OF THE MONTH...WITH SOME LIGHT SNOW IN DENVER FROM THE 3RD
THROUGH THE 4TH. THE 4TH WAS A VERY COLD DAY IN DENVER WITH A HIGH
TEMPERATURE OF ONLY 16 DEGREES. TEMPERATURES BEGAN TO MODERATE ON
THE 6TH...AS THE UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM MOVED INTO THE CENTRAL
PLAINS STATES AND AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILT INTO
THE WESTERN U.S. DENVER EXPERIENCED ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
MOSTLY DRY WEATHER FROM THE 7TH THROUGH THE 24TH AS UPPER LEVEL HIGH
PRESSURE DOMINATED THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION FOR MUCH OF THE PERIOD.
THE 15TH AND 16TH WERE THE WARMEST DAYS...WITH RECORD SETTING
TEMPERATURES AROUND 80 DEGREES. ON THE 16TH...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE
IN DENVER REACHED 81 DEGREES WHICH IS THE EARLIEST 80 DEGREE
TEMPERATURE IN DENVER WEATHER HISTORY. THE PREVIOUS EARLIEST 80
DEGREE DAY OCCURRED ON MARCH 18TH 1907. ON THAT DAY...THE
TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO 82 DEGREES. COOLER UNSETTLED RETURNED TO
NORTHEASTERN COLORADO ON THE 25TH...AS AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM
MOVED INTO COLORADO FROM THE WEST. DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
MEASURED JUST UNDER A QUARTER INCH OF PRECIPITATION AND 1.0 INCHES
OF SNOW WITH THIS SYSTEM. UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE REBUILT OVER THE
ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION ON THE 26TH WITH DRY WEATHER AND WARM
TEMPERATURES THE LAST SIX DAYS OF THE MONTH.

TEMPERATURES:

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE AT DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR THE
MONTH OF MARCH WAS 45.0 DEGREES F WHICH WAS 4.6 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. MARCH OF 1910 WAS THE WARMEST MARCH ON RECORD...WITH AN
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 50.4 DEGREES F.  THE COLDEST MARCH ON RECORD
WAS 26.4 DEGREES F BACK IN 1912. THERE WERE 2 DAYS IN WHICH THE
