Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
603 PM MST Sun Feb 18 2018

.Discussion...

A strong pacific storm system will bring heavy wind driven snow
to the Continental Divide region and strong west to southwest winds
to the southeast mountains tonight through Monday. Winds
will decrease across the lower elevations this evening but still
remain breezy across the plains, and will increase again south of
highway 50 on Monday. This will result in near critical fire weather
conditions Monday afternoon, particularly across Las Animas and Baca
counties, however relative humidity values are expected to remain just
above the critical fire weather threshold.

Snow will continue into Tuesday with cold air settling in across the
plains Monday night and Tuesday. This will bring higher humidity and
less wind to the region. Temperatures will return to near to above
normal by late week with periodic snow showers along the Continental
Divide.

Afternoon smoke dispersions will rise into the excellent category
for most of the district on Monday...however fair to poor dispersions
can be expected across the plains north of highway 50 due to a cold
front. Smoke dispersions on Tuesday will rise into the very good
to excellent category across the mountains but remain poor to fair
across most of the plains.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
