Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
336 AM MDT Sat Oct 14 2017

...A Red Flag Warning is in effect this afternoon and early this
evening for gusty winds, low relative humidities and dry fuels
for fire weather zones 224, and 227 through 233, which includes
the San Luis Valley, southern El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, Las
Animas, Crowley and Otero counties...

.Discussion...

A strong upper level system moving across the state today, will bring
strong winds to all of southeast and south central Colorado. The
San Luis Valley and portions of the southeast plains have dry fuels
and will have weather conditions that meet Red Flag criteria and thus
a Red Flag Warning is in effect for these locations. The weather across
the area will be dry.

Tonight the winds will decrease and most locations will see overnight
lows in the 20s to lower 30s, although some of the higher elevations
will see even cooler temperatures. Dry weather and cooler than
average temperatures can be expected on Sunday. Dry weather will
continue Monday through Wednesday and daytime temperatures will be above
average.

With strong winds over the area today, very good to excellent smoke
dispersion can be expected. Sunday afternoon, the mountain areas
should have good to very good dispersion, while the southeast plains,
I-25 corridor and high valleys should expect poor to fair dispersion.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
