Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1208 PM MST Fri Dec 8 2017

...A Red Flag Warning for gusty winds, low relative humidity and
dry fuels is in effect from 10 AM MST until 5 PM MST today for
fire weather zones 226 through 237 which includes all of the
Interstate 25 corridor and southeastern Colorado plains...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will spread across the
southeastern Colorado plains from later this morning into
this afternoon due to a combination of low humidity values,
existing dry fuels and strong north winds gusting to around 40
to 60 mph. The strongest gusts will occur along and south of
the Palmer Divide in El Paso county, and along the Raton Ridge
in eastern Las Animas county. Conditions will be favorable for
rapid rates of fire growth and spread, especially during the
afternoon.

The weather will remain dry with above normal temperatures from this
weekend into early next week. Winds are expected to be lower,
however critical fire weather conditions may be challenged at
across portions of the far southeastern Colorado plains on Monday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
