.Discussion...

There will be strong westerly winds today across the forecast area,
with the strongest winds being found across areas closest to the
New Mexico border. The strong winds, combined with low humidities
across southeast Colorado, will create high fire danger.
Some light snow accumulations are expected over the mountains
today, especially along the Continental Divide. Tonight, a cold
front will move through southeast Colorado and may bring a few
showers, especially over the Palmer Divide.

Much cooler weather can then be expected on Friday and into the
weekend. The mountains will see some snow showers on Friday, and
then on Saturday, mainly just the Continental Divide will see some
showers.

With strong winds across the area today, smoke dispersion will be
excellent. On Friday, most areas will have good to excellent
smoke dispersion, however El Paso and Pueblo counties may only
see fair to good dispersion.
