Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
325 AM MDT Mon Apr 22 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for portions of the area
from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM MDT this evening...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions are expected today for portions
of Fremont, El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, and western Las Animas
counties, along with the San Luis Valley. Westerly winds gusting
to 35 mph are expected for Monday, with relative humidity values
falling to around ten percent. Elsewhere across southern Colorado,
spotty critical fire weather conditions are expected this
afternoon. Spotty near critical fire weather conditions are
possible for the San Luis Valley on Tuesday, mainly along western
portions of the valley. Critical fire weather is not expected
elsewhere across the forecast area, as much of the plains will
see cooler and more moist conditions for Tuesday.

By Wednesday we return to a warmer and drier pattern with above
normal temperatures and the potential for critical fire weather for
at least the San Luis Valley and southern portions of the I-25
corridor. A much more impactful and widespread fire danger event
is expected for Thursday and Friday ahead of an approaching low
pressure system. Gusty winds, low relative humidity, and high fire
danger will be possible over much of the plains for both days,
with the potential for Saturday to be impactful as well.

Smoke dispersion is expected to be excellent across the area
today. Smoke dispersion is expected to be very good to excellent
across the mountains and mountain valleys on Tuesday, and fair to
good across the plains.
