degrees below seasonal averages.

3. Dry and warming conditions are expected next week, with highs
around 8 to 12 degrees above normal by Friday.

.DISCUSSION...
The area is currently on the lee side of the upper-level trough
that went through the past few days, with a zonal pattern set to
take over through early next week. The Mojave Desert Slopes are
still expected to experience moderately strong winds through
early tomorrow morning, therefore a Wind Advisory has been
issued for that area from 6 PM this evening through 3 AM
tomorrow morning.

As the zonal flow takes over the pattern over California, we
will see high temperatures increase to a few degrees above
seasonal norms. By Thursday, a ridge will begin building over
California, leading to a warming tend that will last through the
weekend, with highs 8 to 12 degrees above normal. There is also
the possibility (10-25%) that locations in the San Joaquin
Valley may see highs around 90 degrees.

The long range models are showing indications of a weak
disturbance that may come through by next Monday, mostly leading
to a brief cooling trend and slightly faster winds, and
precipitation is not very likely. There are more indications of
another, stronger trough and inklings of precipitation by May
8th, though there is much disagreement between members on
timing, amount, or if it will rain at all.
