.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of Today)
Issued at 852 AM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

Satellite imagery shows an upper level trough slowly progressing
east this morning. Out ahead of the trough, light drizzle or rain
is occurring across the Tennessee Valley. Expect this to continue
through the late morning before gradually ending from west to
east by this afternoon. As a cooler and drier airmass moves in
this afternoon, skies should begin to clear out with sunshine
expected later today. However, a rather chilly day for late April
as it will be around 10 to 15 degrees below climatological normals
with afternoon highs only in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Wednesday)
Issued at 226 AM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

Clear conditions will develop by this evening as winds slowly
begin to weaken. This will allow for some radiational cooling in
this dry air mass with low temperatures dropping into the upper
30s to lower 40s in most locations by early Monday morning. A few
locations (especially in southern middle Tennessee) could see a
brief period for patchy frost development. However, confidence is
still low given borderline temperatures and the magnitude of this
dry air mass. As such, have held off on an Advisory for now. We
will enter a period of tranquil weather early this week as high
pressure builds back into the region. In turn, we`ll see a gradual
warming trend as highs return to the mid/upper 60s on Monday and
the low to mid 70s Tuesday and Wednesday. One feature we will have
to watch is a weak shortwave that will ripple southeast across the
area late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. This feature
may bring a brief period of cloud cover and perhaps a few
sprinkles in the predawn hours Wednesday morning. However, in
general mostly sunny and dry weather is forecast for the entire
period Monday through Wednesday.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Saturday)
Issued at 226 AM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

An upper ridge axis will build amplify across the region Thursday
and Friday. Cloud cover ahead of a low pressure system well to the
west will filter back into the region, especially by Friday
However, deep southerly flow (combined with sufficient breaks of
sunshine) will help push highs back into the mid 70s on Thursday
and the upper 70s to lower 80s on Friday and Saturday. A
pronounced longwave trough over the western United States will
slowly progress eastward late this week into the weekend. This
will be the next feature to watch as it may bring our next decent
chances for showers/storms this weekend and/or early next week.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 609 AM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

VFR conditions will be the predominant flight category at each
terminal through the period. Overcast conditions this morning will
gradually give way to clearing skies by the mid-afternoon as a
drier air mass pushes into the area. Winds may become gusty at
times this afternoon between 10-20 mph out of the north.
