Dry and hot weather will prevail through Thursday afternoon. High temperatures will soar to the mid 90s on Thursday afternoon, with heat index values around 100 degrees forecast. Southwesterly winds will become breezy during the late morning hours on Thursday, with sustained wind speeds increasing to 15-20 mph by early afternoon, with frequent gusts of 20-30 mph expected through around sunset. A squall line of strong to severe thunderstorms may approach downtown Jacksonville towards sunset on Thursday from the north. Forecast confidence remains low to medium with regards to this potential, but this line could contain damaging wind gusts of 50-70 mph, hail, isolated tornadoes and frequent lightning strikes as it potentially crosses the Interstate 10 corridor just after sunset. Another round of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will impact downtown Jacksonville on Friday. Timing of this activity remains in question at this time, but the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts of 50-70 mph, hail, isolated tornadoes, and frequent lightning strikes exists through the afternoon hours before this activity pushes south of the area towards sunset on Friday. .REST OF TONIGHT...
