.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Saturday)
Issued at 340 PM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

Surface high pressure will become centered over the Midsouth
tonight resulting in clear skies and light winds. Dew points could
be as low as 32 degrees allowing for efficient radiational
conditions. A Frost Advisory has been issued for portions of west
Tennessee and north Mississippi.

A ridge will build over the Rockies and Great Basin Monday
afternoon into Tuesday resulting in northwest flow across the
central and lower Mississippi River Valley. A weak a cold front
should bring temperatures down a degree or two Wednesday. This
feature may also bring a few showers to the Missouri Bootheel and
northwest Tennessee late Tuesday into early Wednesday. However,
moisture return ahead of the front should be limited. The cold
front will return northward as a warm front Thursday night
resulting in high temperatures in the low to middle 70s Thursday
and increasing moisture across the region. High temperatures are
expected to approach 80 degrees on Friday. The warm front will
also result in elevated rain chances for the later half of the
work week and continue into the weekend. Strong or severe storms
do not appear likely. However, guidance is not in great agreement
with the timing of the return of the warm front, so confidence is
low in the exact PoPs we will see during this time frame. It
should become drier by Sunday with highs in the low to middle 80s.
