Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
306 AM EDT Tue May 7 2024

.DISCUSSION...
The combination of increased moisture, lift, and instability will
favor a daily risk of showers and thunderstorms through late week,
with the greatest coverage Thursday and Friday. Where thunderstorms
occur, strong wind gusts of 40+ mph will be a risk. While the coverage
of thunderstorms will be slightly lower today and Wednesday, the
risk of strong wind gusts and hail will be higher (if thunderstorms
can develop). Outside of thunderstorm activity, a background
southwesterly wind will dominate, with gustier winds Wednesday and Thursday.
