National Weather Service San Diego CA

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure aloft will bring another warm day Wednesday. This will
be followed by minor cooling Thursday and Friday as a weak trough
moves across the region. This trough will slowly deepen the marine
layer with low clouds reaching the inland valleys Friday morning.
The weekend will be warm and dry as another ridge of high pressure
builds over the Southwest.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

Clear skies tonight with only patchy low clouds at the coast near
daybreak. Wednesday will be mostly sunny and warm with high pressure
holding on for one more day. Highs will range from 65-74 in the
coastal zones, 75-85 in the valleys, 63-73 in the mountains, the 80s
in the high deserts, and the mid 90s in the lower deserts.

A weak shortwave passing through area Wednesday night through Friday
will bring occasional mid and high clouds at times. It will also
slowly deepen the marine layer with night and morning low clouds in
coastal zones Wednesday night, and then into the valleys Thursday
night. There will also be breezy westerly winds in the mountains and
deserts each afternoon through Friday.

Another weak ridge builds over Southern California this weekend for
warm, dry weather. The lower deserts have a good chance for exceed
100 degrees for the first time this year. The ridge weakens early
next week with gradual cooling through Tuesday through Thursday.

.AVIATION...
170430Z...Coast...Patchy low cloud coverage will occur 09Z-16Z Wed,
mainly within 5-10 miles of the coast. There is a 60% chance of CIG
impacts to the coastal TAF sites between 11Z and 16Z Wed. Confidence
in the duration of any CIGs is low. Mostly BKN bases will be 700-
1000 ft MSL but could locally be as low as 500 ft. Local VIS will be
1-3 miles over higher coastal terrain. Otherwise, VFR conditions
will prevail through Wed afternoon, but low clouds will have an
earlier onset Wed evening at the coast.

Otherwise...Mostly clear skies with unrestricted vis will prevail
through Wed evening.

&&

.MARINE...
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Sunday.

&&

.BEACHES...
A long-period swell (3 feet/17 seconds/200 deg) from the southern
hemisphere will build surf to 6 feet Wednesday night and early
Thursday, especially on south-facing beaches in Orange County. This
would generate a high rip current risk.
