At 1028 AM, National Weather Service radar detected a large area of
showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain over much of eastern
Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. They were most widespread and
heaviest in Pawnee, Muskogee and Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma. The
precipitation was in the Tulsa and Fort Smith areas. Movement was to
the north at around 20 mph. The average amount where it rained last
hour was around one tenth of an inch with maximum amounts of three
quarters to around an inch. Intensity increased during the last
hour. The Tulsa area forecast for late this morning and into this
afternoon, occasional showers and a chance of thunderstorms with
heavy rainfall and temperatures 61 to 66 degrees along with
northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
