.OVERVIEW...

THE LATEST DROUGHT MONITOR ISSUED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE ON FEB 6  SHOWS D1 TO D3 DROUGHT ACROSS MOST  OF
SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS.  AREAS FROM DODGE CITY SOUTH TO THE OKLAHOMA
STATE LINE WERE IN D3 DROUGHT.

CURRENT ENSO STATE...

LA NINA IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH EARLY SPRING. THE OFFICIAL
FORECAST FROM THE CPC CALLS FOR SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION THROUGH APRIL.

.HYDROLOGIC IMPACTS...

NONE.

.FIRE DANGER IMPACTS...

FUELS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SUPPORTIVE FOR ACTIVE FIRE BEHAVIOR.

.AGRICULTURAL IMPACTS...

SOIL MOISTURE DEFICITS ARE ABOVE NORMAL FOR SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS
REGION PER CPC THROUGH THE SPRING.

OUTLOOK...

THE SEASONAL DROUGHT OUTLOOK CALLS FOR PERSISTENT DROUGHT ACROSS
MOST OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS THROUGH APRIL. THE WORST
CONDITIONS WILL BE FROM DODGE CITY SOUTH TO THE OKLAHOMA STATE LINE
OR GENERALLY THE AREA CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING D3 DROUGHT.
