THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX HAS ISSUED AN

* URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  EXTREME NORTH CENTRAL MARICOPA COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL ARIZONA...
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF NEW RIVER...

* UNTIL 600 PM MST

* AT 404 PM MST THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE ADVISORY AREA HAVE PRODUCED
HEAVY RAIN. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT THE STORM IS NEARLY
STATIONARY AND UP TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN HAS FALLEN
SINCE 330 PM. THIS IS IN THE SAME LOCATION THAT EXPERIENCED
SIGNIFICANT FLOODING IN AUGUST. AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO ONE AND A HALF
INCHES OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON. THIS WILL CAUSE NORMALLY
DRY WASHES TO BEGIN RUNNING AS WELL AS PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS
AND LOW LYING AREAS.

* LOCATIONS THAT MAY EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT
LIMITED TO THE AREAS ADJACENT TO INTERSTATE 17.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE NORMALLY DRY WASHES TO RUN AND
CAUSE CONSIDERABLE PONDING OF WATER ON STREETS...UNDERPASSES...AND
DETENTION BASINS AFFECTING SOME COMMUNITY PARKS. UNBRIDGED CROSSINGS
MAY BECOME TOO DANGEROUS FOR DRIVING.
