Breezy south winds (25-30 mph) and warm conditions in SE MT can be expected ahead of a cold front forecasted to move through the region this afternoon and evening. Atmospheric moisture will keep RH values above 35% for SE MT. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin over the western foothills around noon today. Thunderstorms have the best chance to produce strong winds (up to 60 mph) with heavy rain and hail being secondary threats. Snow levels will drop to around 6000 ft by Thursday morning with a dusting possible for locations around this elevation and the highest peaks likely to see at least 6-8 inches. High temperatures will be in the 80s for SE MT decreasing to the 70s/60s west today. Cooler temperatures will be in place for Thursday with 60s expected for the region.
