Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
240 PM MDT SAT AUG 1 2015

...RED FLAG WARNING THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EVENING FOR BREEZY
CONDITIONS...EXTREMELY LOW HUMIDITIES...AND HIGH HAINES INDEX
ACROSS THE KOOTENAI...FLATHEAD/GLACIER PARK...WEST LOLO...SALISH
AND KOOTENAI RESERVATION...

...Hot and extremely dry conditions with strong night time thermal
belts through Sunday...

...Increasing thunderstorm threat Monday and Tuesday...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: Extremely hot and dry conditions will continue through
Monday morning as high pressure remains in place. Thermal belts
will continue to strengthen, producing very poor RH recoveries on
the midslopes and ridges. Increasing monsoonal moisture will allow
for the threat of thunderstorms beginning Monday, becoming more
likely Monday night into Tuesday. These storms will likely begin
dry, but slowly moisten up by Tuesday. Increased moisture will
allow for a slight cooling trend and higher RHs by Tuesday.

Montana: Critical fire weather conditions are expected through
early this evening due to very hot and dry conditions and locally
breezy afternoon winds, mainly across northwest Montana. Extremely
hot/dry conditions with strong night time thermal belts will
continue into Monday, though wind will be less. Increasing
monsoonal moisture will allow for the threat of thunderstorms
beginning Monday, becoming more likely Monday night into Tuesday.
These storms will likely begin dry, but slowly moisten up by
Tuesday. Increased moisture will allow for a slight cooling trend
and higher RHs by Tuesday.
