Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest and South-Central
Arizona and Southeast California
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
339 AM MST Tue Mar 28 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM MST THIS
EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND HIGH FIRE
DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...
An area of low pressure will bring breezy to windy conditions
across the Desert Southwest through this evening. The strongest
winds are expected across the higher elevations of southeastern
California and southwestern Arizona with gusts as high as 50 mph
in Joshua Tree National Park.

Much drier air will move into the region this afternoon behind
the departing low pressure system with RHs dropping to around 10
percent across southeastern California and southwestern Arizona.
Fine fuels will continue to dry which will result in a high fire
danger for a few hours this afternoon, particularly along the
lower Colorado River Valley and across portions of La Paz and Yuma
counties. Conditions will then improve tonight as RHs increase
somewhat and winds subside. A warming and drying trend is then
expected Wednesday as high pressure builds across the region.

...Thunderstorms imply gusty winds...
