HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

AN ICE JAM HAS FORMED DOWNRIVER OF EAGLE AND IS CAUSING RIVER LEVELS
TO RISE UPSTREAM. THE YUKON RIVER IS BANKFULL WITH MINOR FLOODING
FLOODING OCCURRING IN EAGLE AND EAGLE VILLAGE.

THE LOWER YUKON RIVER BETWEEN HOLY CROSS AND MOUNTAIN VILLAGE IS
PARTIALLY TO MOSTLY OPEN. THE KUSKOKWIM IS PARTIALLY TO MOSTLY OPEN
THROUGH ITS ENTIRE LENGTH. THE SUSITNA RIVER IS ALSO MOSTLY OPEN
BELOW CANTWELL.

THE UPPER LEVEL PATTERN TODAY HAS A LARGE LOW OVER THE WESTERN
ALEUTIANS. THIS LOW IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SLOWLY EASTWARD INTO THE
WESTERN GULF BY EARLY SATURDAY. RAINFALL IS EXPECTED ALONG THE
ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE GULF COAST... FROM THE ALEUTIANS TO THE
PANHANDLE TODAY. LOCALIZED AMOUNTS UP TO 1.5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.
THE CENTRAL GULF AND PANHANDLE WILL RECEIVE THE BULK OF THE RAIN FOR
THURSDAY. GENERAL HALF INCH TO AN INCH OF RAIN FOR THE SOUTHERN
THIRD OF THE STATE FOR FRIDAY.

ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE ENTIRE STATE.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE EASTERN TWO-THIRDS OF THE
STATE...INCLUDING THE ALEUTIAN CHAIN. INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE SEWARD PENINSULA.
