...UNUSUALLY STRONG LATE SUMMER WINDSTORM...

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ORIGINATING IN THE ARCTIC WILL
DIVE SOUTHWARD ACROSS SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA BY LATE TONIGHT. THIS
WILL LEAD TO STRONG WINDS...ESPECIALLY THROUGH MOUNTAIN GAPS. SOME
OF THE HIGHEST WINDS WILL BE FELT FROM VALDEZ UP THROUGH THOMPSON
PASS. SINCE TREES STILL HAVE LEAVES ON THEM THEY WILL BE MORE
SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE FROM HIGH WINDS.

WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM
AKDT FRIDAY. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* WIND...IN TOWN...NORTHEAST WINDS 35 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO
  60 MPH. THROUGH THOMPSON PASS...NORTHEAST WINDS 40 TO 55 MPH
  WITH GUSTS TO 70 MPH.

* TIMING...WINDS WILL RAPIDLY INCREASE THURSDAY EVENING AND PEAK
  LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL MAY BE DIFFICULT. TREES AND POWER LINES MAY BE
  BLOWN OVER. LOOSE DEBRIS CAN BE MOVED AND DAMAGE PROPERTY.
