...Widespread gusty winds through early Tuesday afternoon across
much of southwestern California with damaging gusts in some
areas...

.West to northwest winds will be increase through late today
behind a frontal system. Winds are expected to strengthen and
become more northerly tonight and continue into Tuesday morning
while turning more northeasterly. Damaging wind gusts to 60 mph
are likely in the mountains and the Antelope Valley. Winds will
gradually diminish in most areas by Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has cancelled
the High Wind Watch.

* Winds and Timing...Areas of northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with
  gusts to 45 mph are expected this afternoon. Winds will shift
to a more northerly direction this evening, and increase to 25
to 40 mph tonight with gusts to 50 mph. Winds will diminish
early Tuesday morning.

* Impacts...Cross winds can make driving difficult, especially for
  drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers.
  Winds will likely affect travel on the 5 freeway and Highway 14.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.

the High Wind Watch.

* Winds and Timing...Areas of northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with
  gusts to 45 mph will become widespread this afternoon. Winds
  will shift to north this evening, and increase to 25 to 40 mph
  tonight with gusts to 50 mph before diminishing late tonight.
  Isolated gusts to 60 mph will be possible. Winds will be
  strongest below passes and canyons.

* Impacts...Cross winds can make driving difficult, especially for
  drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers.
  The strong winds will likely impact travel across portions of
  highways 101 and 154.

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 9 AM to 2 PM PDT Tuesday.

* Winds and Timing...Areas of northwest winds will increase to 20
  to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph this afternoon, peaking at 30 to
  45 mph with gusts to 65 mph tonight. Winds will be strongest
  through the I-5 corridor. Winds will diminish some Tuesday
  morning but remain gusty through early Tuesday afternoon.

* Impacts...Winds this strong may down trees and power lines,
  causing property damage or power outages. Cross winds can make
  driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile
  vehicles and vehicles towing trailers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning means that damaging high winds of 58 mph or
greater are likely or imminent. Secure all loose outdoor
furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Monitor the

* Winds and Timing...Areas of west to northwest winds 20 to 30 mph
  with gusts to 45 mph will increase to 25 to 40 mph with gusts to
  60 mph by late this afternoon and continue through late tonight,
  then slowly diminish. The strongest winds are expected in
  western portions of the Antelope Valley and in the foothills.

* Impacts...Winds this strong may down trees and power lines,
  causing property damage or power outages. Cross winds can make
  driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile
  vehicles and vehicles towing trailers. The strong winds will
  likely impact travel across portions of Highways 14 and 138.
  Areas of blowing dust may reduce visibilities to one half mile
  or less at times.
