.DISCUSSION...SKIES WILL BE VARIABLY CLOUDY TODAY, WITH ISOLATED
RAIN SHOWERS ACROSS NORTHWEST SOUTH DAKOTA. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL
BE IN THE MID 40S TO MID 50S, WARMEST ACROSS SOUTHERN SOUTH
DAKOTA. WINDS WILL BE FROM THE NORTHWEST AT 15 TO 25 MPH. RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES WILL DROP TO 25 TO 50 PERCENT IN THE AFTERNOON, LOWEST
VALUES OVER FAR SOUTHERN SOUTH DAKOTA.

THIS AFTERNOON. VERY POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A VERY LOW
MOISTURE CONTENT OF GRASSES, AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL ON
THE GROUND, INDICATE THAT DANGEROUS BURNING CONDITIONS EXIST.
FIRES WILL SPREAD RAPIDLY AND SHOW ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. OUTDOOR
BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

THE OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON, THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER

AFTERNOON. UNFAVORABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A LOW MOISTURE
CONTENT OF GRASSES, AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL ON THE GROUND,
INDICATE THAT THERE IS A MODERATE TO HIGH POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE
OCCURRENCE. OUTDOOR BURNING SHOULD BE RESTRICTED TO EARLY MORNING
OR EVENING HOURS WHEN WIND SPEEDS ARE USUALLY LOWER AND THE
RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS HIGHER.

INDEX WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY TO MODERATE CATEGORY.
