URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MORE WINTRY PRECIPITATION ON THE WAY...

.SEVERAL PASSING UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES WILL RESULT IN
INCREASING MOISTURE AND ASCENT IN THE LOWER AND MIDDLE PORTIONS
OF THE ATMOSPHERE THIS MORNING INTO SUNDAY. SNOW WILL DEVELOP
FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING AND AFTERNOON AND
WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS EVENING. THE SNOW WILL THEN CHANGE TO
A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION ACROSS SOUTHERN MISSOURI OVERNIGHT
TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY. MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL THEN CHANGE
TO RAIN BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS SOUTHERN MISSOURI BUT A LIGHT
WINTRY MIX WILL BE POSSIBLE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 44.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED SOUTH
OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR WITH THE LIGHTEST TOTALS ACROSS
SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI. 3 TO 5 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS
OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE
44 CORRIDOR. A THIN GLAZE OF ICE IS ALSO EXPECTED SOUTH OF THE
INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR.

THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM IS TRACKING SLIGHTLY FARTHER SOUTH THAN
PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT...AS A RESULT THE HEAVIER SNOW AMOUNTS HAVE
BEEN SHIFTING TO THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR. THE FARTHER SOUTH
TREND WILL ALSO KEEP TEMPERATURES A TAD COLDER ALSO PUSHING THE
ICE POTENTIAL SOUTH ACROSS MAINLY SOUTHERN MISSOURI.

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN IS NOW IN
EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST SUNDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...LIGHT SNOW WAS BEGINNING TO OVERSPREAD THE
  REGION EARLY THIS MORNING. SEVERAL WAVES OF SNOW WILL OCCUR
  THROUGHOUT THE DAY TODAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN
  EFFECT FOR EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND THE MISSOURI OZARKS
  FROM THE 7 AM THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

* SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION FROM WEST TO EAST THIS MORNING
  AND AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING HOURS. THE SNOW WILL
  THEN CHANGE TO A WINTRY MIX OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW
  ACROSS SOUTHERN MISSOURI OVERNIGHT TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...AMOUNTS RANGING FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE
  EXPECTED SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR WITH THE LIGHTEST
  TOTALS ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI. 3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW CAN
  BE EXPECTED ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A THIN GLAZE OF ICE WITH AMOUNTS GENERALLY
  LESS THAN FIVE HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH EXPECTED SOUTH OF THE
  INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR.

* VISIBILITY...MODERATE SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN
  A MILE AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF FALLING AND ACCUMULATING SNOW AS
  WELL AS A THIN GLAZE OF ICE WILL MAKE TRAVEL CONDITIONS
  DIFFICULT.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN WILL
CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND
