AS WE WRAP UP THE 2014 FLOOD SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK, REMEMBER THAT
FLOODING CAN OCCUR IN ANY OF THE FIFTY STATES OR U.S. TERRITORIES AT
ANY TIME OF THE YEAR. PREPARE YOURSELF, YOUR FAMILY, AND YOUR HOME.
BE AWARE OF POTENTIAL FLOODING IN YOUR AREA, TURN AROUND, DON`T
DROWN, AND HELP MAKE THE U.S. A MORE WEATHER READY NATION!

FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL NWS OFFICE OR EMAIL
HYDRO.OUTREACH@NOAA.GOV.

SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY - DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FLOOD
WATCH AND A FLOOD WARNING? THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CARIBOU
ISSUES A FLOOD WATCH TO MAKE THE PUBLIC AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR
FLOODING DUE TO FAVORABLE CONDITIONS SUCH AS HEAVY RAIN OR RIVER ICE
BREAKUP. IF A FLOOD WATCH IS ISSUED FOR YOUR AREA, STAY ALERT FOR
RAPIDLY CHANGING CONDITIONS AND FORECAST UPDATES, ESPECIALLY IF YOU
LIVE ALONG A RIVER OR STREAM OR IN A LOW-LYING AREA. A FLOOD WARNING
IS ISSUED WHEN DANGEROUS FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR ALREADY OCCURRING.
IF YOU HEAR A FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR YOUR AREA, DON`T
HESITATE. GET TO SAFETY IMMEDIATELY!
