5 DAY ICE DISCUSSION...

HIGH PRESSURE OVER SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND IOWA WILL MOVE TO THE OHIO
VALLEY AND SOUTHERN LAKES THURSDAY NIGHT. THE RIDGE WILL REMAIN IN
PLACE FRIDAY AS LOW PRESSURE MOVES TO JAMES BAY. THE LOW WILL MOVE
TO NORTHERN QUEBEC SATURDAY AND DRAG A COLD FRONT ACROSS THE WESTERN
LAKES. THE FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REST OF THE LAKES SUNDAY. HIGH
PRESSURE IN THE OHIO VALLEY WILL BUILD ACROSS THE LAKES MONDAY.

WEST GALES ON EASTERN LAKE SUPERIOR WILL SUBSIDE TO 30 KNOTS AFTER
MIDNIGHT. ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE LAKE EXPECT WEST WINDS 10 TO 25
KNOTS. THURSDAY WINDS ON THE EASTERN LAKES WILL BE FROM THE NORTH TO
NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 20 KNOTS.  WINDS ON THE WESTERN LAKES GENERALLY
FROM THE WEST TO SOUTHWEST AT 10 TO 25 KNOTS. THURSDAY NIGHT WINDS
WILL BACK TO SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST ACROSS THE WESTERN LAKES AT 10 TO 20
KNOTS.  EASTERN LAKES WILL SEE WINDS GO LIGHT.

TEMPERATURES THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WILL BE VERY MUCH BELOW NORMAL.
WESTERN LAKES WILL SEE TEMPERATURES RANGE BETWEEN NEAR NORMAL AND
BELOW NORMAL SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. MONDAY WILL BE NORMAL TO ABOVE.
THE EASTERN LAKES WILL REMAIN BELOW NORMAL SATURDAY AND THEN TREND
TOWARD NORMAL SUNDAY AND MONDAY.

PERCENT ICE COVERAGE FROM 8 TO 15 INCHES THICK OF PACK...SHEET AND
NEW ICE FROM LORAIN TO VERMILION AND LORAIN TO AVON POINT.

ON 3 MAR 2015 AT 20Z THE COAST GUARD STATION ROCHESTER REPORTED 100
PERCENT COVERAGE OF 1 TO 2 INCH THICK CLEAR ICE IN GENESEE
RIVER...BRADDOCK BAY...CRANBERRY POND...LONG POND...BUCK
POND...ROUND POND EASTMAN LAKE...DURAND LAKE AND IRONDEQUOIT BAY.

ON 3 MAR 2015 AT 21Z THE COAST GUARD AT ERIE PA REPORTED 100 PERCENT
COVERAGE OF 12-14 INCH THICK CLEAR AND PACK ICE IN THE ERIE
CHANNEL...CLEAR ICE COVERING PRESQUEISLE BAY AND CLEAR/PACK ICE/SNOW
OFF LAKE ERIE SHORE.

ON 4 MAR 2015 THE COAST GUARD AT HOLLYHOCK REPORTED 100 PERCENT
COVERAGE 16-18 INCH SNOW COVERED PLATE ICE 2NM SOUTH OF GRAHAM
SHOAL. 100 PERCENT COVERAGE OF 6-8 INCH THICK PLATE ICE 1.8 NM NORTH
OF POINT DETACHEE.  16NM NORTHEAST OF ROGERS CITY MI 100 PERCENT
COVERAGE OF 4-6 INCH SNOW COVERED PLATE ICE. THE TRACK WAS HOLDING
WELL FROM MACKINAW BRIDGE TO ROUND ISLAND PASS. APPROX 5NM EAST OF
BOIS BLANK ISLAND ICE THICKNESS DECREASES TO 1-3 INCH THROUGH
RODGERS CITY.

ON 4 MAR 2015 THE COAST GUARD DETROIT REPORTED 60 PERCENT COVERAGE
OF 2-3 INCH THICK PLATE.  ZUG ISLAND 90 PERCENT COVERAGE OF 2-3 INCH
PLATE ICE. FIGHTING ISLAND 90 PERCENT COVERAGE OF 3-4 INCH REFROZEN
BRASH ICE. LIVINGSTONE CHANNEL 100 PERCENT COVERAGE 2-3 INCH SNOW
COVERED PLATE ICE. AND 100 PERCENT COVERAGE FROM DRL TO PELEE PASS
6-8 INCH SNOW COVERED PLATE AND LOOSE BRASH.  TRACK WAS HOLDING BUT
ESCORT RECOMMENDED.
