Ohio River Basin Hydrometeorological Discussion

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...
Northwest flow off the Great Lakes will produce their typical post-frontal
showers today in the north-eastern Ohio Valley. This activity will taper off
tonight as high pressure builds into the area by Friday morning.

A strong cold front will push through the basin on Saturday. Increasing
southerly flow ahead of the front will warm temperatures on Friday and
Saturday. Rain will initially develop along a warm front across the northern
Ohio Valley on Friday night. This will be followed by showers and storms
associated with the cold front passage on Saturday.

Temperatures will be much colder behind the front on Sunday.

At this time, the outlook for next week is for drier than normal conditions.

...FLOOD POTENTIAL DISCUSSION...
Rainfall this weekend will result in some significant river rises, but there is
still only a low probability of any river flooding developing as a result.

...24-HR OBSERVED PRECIPITATION USED IN TODAY`S RIVER FORECASTS...
Precipitation fell across the entire basin. Amounts were generally highest in
Indiana and Illinois where they ranged from 0.25 to 0.75 inch.

...48-HR FORECAST PRECIPITATION USED IN TODAY`S RIVER FORECASTS...
Precipitation is forecast in the northern two-thirds of the Ohio Valley. Basin
average amounts will generally increase to the north with east central
Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio and far northwestern Pennsylvania
expecting 0.50 to nearly 0.75 inch.
