.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Sunday...Quiet weather is expected
tonight as any lingering showers come to an end near or before
midnight. Overnight humidity recovery should be good across a
majority of the region. Much warmer and windier conditions are
forecast on Sunday ahead of a strong system, leading to elevated
fire weather conditions across portions of the high country and
the I-25 corridor. In these areas, humidity values may fall to as
low as 15-20%. Further east, better moisture will hold on with
humidity values generally around 30-45%. Wind gusts will peak in
the late afternoon or evening hours, with gusts of up to 50-55 mph
possible across the far eastern plains. Very good to excellent
smoke dispersal is anticipated.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday night through Thursday...A storm system
will affect the area late Sunday night into Monday which will
bring a round of wind and snow to the mountains. Across the
plains, it will be very windy and cooler with a chance of showers
in the morning. Tuesday will continue very windy with a good
chance of snow showers in the mountains with dry conditions over
the plains. Critical fire danger may occur both Monday and Tuesday
across southeast Elbert and southern Lincoln counties where the
relative humidity will drop to around 10 percent in the afternoon.
On Wednesday, the winds will die down with snow showers
decreasing across the high country. Cool unsettled weather is
expected on Thursday in response to a cold front dropping into the
Northeastern Plains.
