...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Sunday)
Issued at 340 AM CDT SAT APR 13 2024

Surface high pressure is centered over Louisiana, so a
northwesterly flow is in place today, albeit light winds. This
evening the low will be centered just off the Alabama coastline
resulting in light to calm winds. A weak inverted trough will
develop to our east but the only impact we will see will be some
passing cirrus clouds. On Sunday the high becomes centered off the
west coast of Florida, so we will begin to see the winds shift to
more of a southwesterly flow, but remain light. Maybe a few more
fair weather cumulus and high cirrus clouds but still overall
sunny both days. Highs today will be in the upper 70s to low 80s,
with low to mid 80s on Sunday. For tonight, we will likely see
upper 40s to low 50s around the area, although we will probably
see quite a bit of our microclimates across the area. Even light
winds of less than 4 mph could result in temperatures 5 to 8
degrees warmer in spots.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through next Friday)
Issued at 340 AM CDT SAT APR 13 2024

An upper-level ridge will move across the Deep South Monday and
Tuesday, providing dry and warm conditions to the region.
Afternoon temperatures should reach the low to mid 80s each day.
As a trough in the Plains moves toward the Great Lakes and Ohio
Valley, the tail end of a weakening front should arrive late
Tuesday night into Wednesday. This could bring scattered showers
and thunderstorms to our northern and central counties.

Another trough is expected to move across the Upper Midwest and
Great Lakes region late Thursday into Friday. Much of Thursday
should remain dry, but rain chances will increase Thursday evening
and Friday as a front approaches from the northwest.
