PREV DISCUSSION

.DISCUSSION....Through next Wednesday.

Las Vegas temperature running 6 degrees warmer than yesterday, so
that should put our high at 80 degrees later this afternoon. That
would be nearly month later than average(March 14), but only a day
later than last year(April9).

Broad ridge over the region will lead to additional warming tomorrow
and Friday. Next incoming trough progged to dig south down the West
Coast and be positioned close to the central California Friday and
Saturday. Since its Spring, we can`t go more than a few days without
strong winds. Those days will be Friday and Saturday as the NBM
shows high chance of winds greater than 40 mph in the western Mojave
Desert, Inyo, Esmeralda and Nye Counties starting Friday afternoon.
The wind should subside some Friday night before increasing across
all of southern Nevada, southeast California and northwest Arizona
Saturday. Expect to see some wind headlines coming out of this
office in the next 24-36 hours.

As for the precipitation. Most significant segment of the
atmospheric river is forecast to remain through central California
Friday night-Saturday morning. The AR will then weaken as it crosses
the southern Sierra into the southern Great Basin Saturday afternoon-
Sunday. Current QPF forecast has between 0.05"-0.25" in Inyo County,
south central Nevada and the Spring Mountains. Less than 0.05"
projected elsewhere. 1"-3" on new snow in the southern Sierra up to
9500 feet with 3"-6" near the crest.

Ensembles show some form of a longwave trough staying over the
Intermountain West next week. This will likely lead to breezy
periods with temperatures ranging from well below normal Sunday,
then slightly below to near normal Monday-Wednesday.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...Winds will remain light, less than 10
knots, and will follow typical diurnal directional trends. Periods
of light and variable winds will be possible as winds transition.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...With the exception of the Colorado River Valley TAF
sites, winds at the remaining TAF sites will remain light, 10 knots
or less, and will follow typical diurnal directional trends. Periods
of light and variable winds will be possible as winds transition. 15
to 25 knot northerly gusts will continue for the Colorado River
Valley TAF sites through approximately 03Z. Once wind gusts drop
off, winds at KEED will fall to the west-northwest whereas winds at
KIFP will shift to a more north-northeasterly direction through
tomorrow morning.
