FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANCHORAGE AK
350 PM AKDT MON MAY 2 2016

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL EXIT TO INTERIOR
ALASKA TONIGHT BRING AN END TO MOST OF THE STEADY PRECIP FROM
PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND TO THE COPPER BASIN. COLDER AIR WILL MOVE
IN ALOFT BEHIND THE DISTURBANCE LEADING TO INCREASED
INSTABILITY...WHICH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO GUSTY WINDS THROUGH THE
NORMAL GAPS AS A SURFACE RIDGE BUILDS ALONG THE NORTH GULF COAST
THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

A SIMILAR PATTERN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS WILL MAINTAIN FAIRLY
STEADY CONDITIONS WITH REGARD TO TEMPS AND HUMIDITY. THE BULK OF
PRECIP WILL REMAIN ALONG THE GULF COAST WHILE INLAND AREAS WILL
SEE A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS WITH DIURNALLY DRIVEN SHOWERS IN AN
UNSTABLE AIR MASS. LOCALIZED GAP WINDS CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED EACH
AFTERNOON/EVENING AS SOME SEMBLANCE OF A SURFACE RIDGE REMAINS
ALONG THE NORTH GULF COAST.
